Energy efficiency in agriculture.

New report on energy efficiency in agriculture.
Authors: Sven Bernesson, Hanna Karlsson Potter, and Per-Anders Hansson.

Large amounts of energy are used in agriculture. However, there is an opportunity to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption in many areas within the various branches of production. The use of indirect energy is also significant in agriculture, which means that more efficient use of resources with multiple inputs results in energy savings. Since most studies on energy use and opportunities for energy efficiency are quite old, and agriculture has undergone significant structural changes in recent years towards larger units while much new technology has been developed, there is a need for more in-depth studies in this area.

The purpose of this study is to compile available literature on energy efficiency in agriculture. The focus is on Swedish conditions.
